2005-2006 Disaster Relief Fund Donors Help Red Cross Respond |
Over the past year, supporters of the American Red Cross have helped to deliver hope and comfort on a scale that has never been witnessed in the 125 year history of the organization. On behalf of those the Red Cross serves, thank you to the donors that generously contributed funds that make the Red Cross response possible, helping our neighbors in their time of need.

|
On Feb. 3, 2006, thanks to the generosity of its supporters, the Red Cross announced that financial donations and pledges will cover the estimated $2.116 billion costs for its response to Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. As a good steward of donated dollars, the Red Cross has a standard practice of informing the public when sufficient funds have been raised to cover the costs associated with a disaster response. In keeping with that commitment, the Red Cross will no longer initiate fundraising activities for these hurricanes. The Red Cross asks donors to support the ongoing needs of hurricane survivors by giving to countless other charities and non-profit organizations that continue to raise funds for hurricane recovery efforts.
The American Red Cross urges the American public to stay alert and prepare their homes and families for disasters. The humanitarian service provided by the Red Cross to hurricane survivors, and to the victims of more than 73,000 other disasters each year, is possible only through generous giving to the Disaster Relief Fund.
The following donors have aided the American Red Cross response by providing donations of $50,000 or more to disaster relief efforts.
Annual Disaster Giving Program members help secure a reliable funding base for disaster relief services that enables the American Red Cross to respond immediately to the needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster anywhere in the country, regardless of cost.
